Carbide Burrs

Carbide burrs, also referred to as rotary files, are small, rotating tools used for cutting. In theory, carbide burrs are similar to files, except instead of cutting with a linear motion, they rotate at high speeds to cut and finish metal workpieces.

Carbide burrs are used for shaping, cutting, grinding, and removing sharp edges, burrs, and excessive material. Due to the rigidity and strength of carbide burrs, fewer vibrations occur, meaning bends don't happen.

Carbide burrs are commonly used in manufacturing aerospace & turbine parts and metal transformation for deburring, weld preparation, chamfering, edge breaking, and removing material found in intricate and hard-to-reach areas.

Metals, including non-ferrous and ferrous metals, Inconel, inox, and alloys, can be etched using these machines. SCTools offers a wide range of carbide burrs shapes that accept various teeth and cut patterns to adapt to different materials' key characteristics.

Carbide Burr Uses

The following are the five most common uses of carbide burrs:

  1. Clipping impeller runners, such as on automobile engines.
  2. Routing and groove processing of various mechanical parts, cleaning pipes, and finishing the surface of inner holes on mechanical parts, as in machine manufacturers and repair shops.
  3. To complete machining metal mold cavities, for example, shoe molds, etc.
  4. They are a carving of all kinds of metals and non-metals for craft gifts.
  5. Remove flashes, burrs, and welded seams of the cast forged and welded components, such as those found at machine foundries, shipyards, and automobile factories.

Classification of Carbide Burrs and Carbide Burr Shapes

Solid Carbide Burrs

Carbide burrs from SCTools have a high melting point and high specific gravity, and high hardness. Carbide Burrs are often used in Pneumatic and power tools at high speeds to grind back welding scars before welding.

Double Cut Carbide Burrs

Carbide rotary burrs with a double-cut are also carbide rotary burrs, but they are uniform in force and balance with features that are easy to master.

The Benefits of Carbide Burrs

A variety of benefits are associated with carbide tools as outlined below:

  1. Carbide burrs have a machining efficiency ten times that of a manual file and nearly ten times that of a small grinder wheel with a handle.
  2. Carbide burrs lower total processing costs.
  3. The burrs replace the small grinding wheel with a handle to avoid dust pollution.
  4. Carbide burrs help achieve high-quality results when processing mold cavities with high precision.
  5. In terms of durability, carbide burrs are ten times more durable than high-speed steel tools and 200 times more durable than small grinding wheels.
  6. Using carbide burrs is easy, simple, safe, and reliable.
  7. With a carbide burr, anything from cast iron to steel to carbon steel to stainless steel, as well as marble, jade, copper, aluminum, and alloy steel, can be processed.

Picking the Right Carbide Burr

The good carbide burr depends on your specific needs. While working with hard materials, experts prefer tungsten carbide burrs. However, when working with symmetrical parts, a double-cut carbide rotary burr is preferred.

Carbide burrs have a wide range of affordable models and are ideal for industries that demand complex alloy files. The preparation of as many hard alloy rotary files as possible is crucial because each part is different and unique in its way. By properly using the carbide burr, you can increase your productivity.

Measures To Ensure Safety

Practicing safety will help to prevent misfortunes such as injuries, illnesses, death, and other preventable mishaps.

  • Always make sure that your burr shank is inserted correctly into your collet and that it is tightly clamped.
  • Make sure you firmly anchor your work to your workbench.
  • Keep pressure light and ensure the burr stays moving.
  • Ensure you protect your eyes with eyeglasses and a full shield.

SCTool's carbide burr for aluminum comes from the highest quality tungsten carbide. Burrs manufactured with these specifications are manufactured with perfect balance and concentricity, resulting in no vibration. A unique tooth design allows for fast material removal and maximum cutting performance.
