How to read a FEPA shape code (example: 11V9)
Part 1 — number: basic shape of the wheel body (1 = straight, 4 = taper, 6 = straight cup, 9 = double cup, 11 = flaring cup, 12 = dish, 14 = saucer, 15 = special profiles).
Part 2 — letter: cross-section shape of the abrasive (diamond/CBN) section — A = rectangular, B = modified rectangular, E/EE = thin rectangular, F/FF = radiused, V = angled, Y = special.
Part 3 — number: location of the abrasive section on the body — 1 = periphery, 2 = side, 9 = corner/rim.
Additional letters (T, W, R, H, C, P…) indicate body or hole modifications — for example the R in 1A1R identifies the thin cut-off version.
FEPA dimension letters — which part of the wheel each letter measures:
D — outside diameter of the wheel T — overall thickness (axial width) H — bore (arbor hole) diameter X — depth of the abrasive section U — width of the abrasive section W — rim (wall) width on cup wheels E — thickness of the back / hub J — diameter of the small end or flat K — diameter of the inside flat R — radius of the working edge V — angle of the flaring wall S — rim / segment thickness
