3/16" Spoon Cutter, center cutting, single end, 35° helix, 3 flutes, 0.008-0.010" corner radius, AlTiN Coated.

A spoon cutter is a center-cutting single-end mill with a gashed, spoon-shaped end, so it can plunge straight into the material and then feed sideways without a pilot hole. This one is ground from solid carbide and cuts 3/16" diameter on a 3/16" shank, with 5/16" of flute and 2" overall.

Stainless work-hardens the moment the edge stops cutting, so this geometry is ground to keep a positive rake and shear the chip rather than rub it.

The AlTiN coating carries heat away from the cutting edge, which is what lets the tool hold up in stainless and other higher-temperature alloys.
