Cross-Reference Tool
Cross-reference FM Carbide's turning chip-breaker codes against the equivalent geometry from 13 major brands — organized by material and grouped by negative or positive insert style.
Rows are color-coded by workpiece material, following the standard machining color convention.

Most codes above are traditional 2D chip-breakers. The newest development in the industry is 3D chip-breaker geometry — a sculpted, three-dimensional chip-forming surface (rather than a simple pressed groove) for better control at the extremes: hardened steel, non-ferrous metals, and grooving. So far this is a Tungaloy-specific innovation with no direct FM or competitor cross-reference code yet — listed here as a trend worth watching.
TungThread — AH8015
Threading3D chip-breaker threading inserts in the AH8015 grade, covering ISO metric, UN, and NPT threads with improved chip control and tool life.
