5/8" Spoon Cutter, center cutting, single end, 60° helix, 3 flutes, ZrN Coated.

A spoon cutter is a center-cutting single-end mill with a gashed, spoon-shaped end, so it can plunge straight into the material and then feed sideways without a pilot hole. This one is ground from solid carbide and cuts 5/8" diameter on a 5/8" shank, with 1-1/2" of flute and 3-1/2" overall.

Ground for finishing passes: light radial engagement at high spindle speed, where the shear angle and flute polish do more for the surface than raw depth of cut.

The ZrN (zirconium nitride) coating is a low-friction, non-ferrous coating: it resists built-up edge on aluminium and similar alloys while keeping the edge close to sharp.
