1/2" Spoon Cutter, center cutting, single end, 45° helix, 2 flutes, ZrN Coated.
A spoon cutter is a center-cutting single-end mill with a gashed, spoon-shaped end, so it can plunge straight into the material and then feed sideways without a pilot hole. This one is ground from solid carbide and cuts 1/2" diameter on a 1/2" shank, with 5/8" of flute and 3" overall.
The high helix and open flute form lift chips clear of the cut, which is what keeps aluminum, brass and other gummy non-ferrous materials from packing the flutes and welding to the edge.
The ZrN (zirconium nitride) coating is a low-friction, non-ferrous coating: it resists built-up edge on aluminum and similar alloys while keeping the edge close to sharp.
For HTC carbide tools, if the uncoated tool is available and coating is needed, estimated time to ship is 3–4 business days; tools not in stock typically ship in 7–10 calendar days. HTC HSS or cobalt tools not in stock typically ship in 10–15 calendar days. Availability depends on the selected tool and finish.
