5/8" Spoon Cutter, center cutting, single end, 38° helix, 3 flutes, ZrN Coated.

A spoon cutter is a center-cutting single-end mill with a gashed, spoon-shaped end, so it can plunge straight into the material and then feed sideways without a pilot hole. This one is ground from solid carbide and cuts 5/8" diameter on a 5/8" shank, with 2-1/4" of flute and 5" overall.

The high helix and open flute form lift chips clear of the cut, which is what keeps aluminium, brass and other gummy non-ferrous materials from packing the flutes and welding to the edge.

The ZrN (zirconium nitride) coating is a low-friction, non-ferrous coating: it resists built-up edge on aluminium and similar alloys while keeping the edge close to sharp.
